About VCF Format

VCF files are textual by nature and are human-readable. These can be easily opened in text editors like Notepad, Microsoft Windows, and TextEdit on Mac OS. If the VCF file contains an image, it can’t be shown by text editors. vCard files are also implemented with text and binary formatting so that it is possible to attach images and other multimedia content to a contact list stored in a vCard file.

VCF File updated its versions from 2.1 to 4.0 adding detailed information to the file format. This format is used to export phone contacts and later in import to another device.
